The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S is the brand’s response to the current king of the GT hill, the Porsche 911. The execution is sheer perfection, giving the driver thrills on spirited drives and a supple ride on the highway. This is one of the few sports cars that live up to its GT designation.
The most striking feature of this car is the design. As the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, the GT S is inherently the most progressive and risky. The reward however is an automobile with the correct GT proportions (long hood, short trunk). Its wide stance and subtly rounded bodywork make it look as if the sheet metal was wrapped around its internals.
As much as the GT S is a joy to look at, it’s even better driving it. With a 4.4L V-8 Twin Turbo, the GT S puts out 503hp and a tree pulling 479lb-ft of torque. While it maybe down on power compared to the SLS, it has also trimmed down, losing almost 200 pounds. Coupled to a brilliant dual clutch transmission, the GT S is able to put its power effectively to the ground with a 0-60 time of only 3 seconds flat and a quarter mile time in the low 11s, all while letting out a guttural AMG noise that harkens back to the 6.3L.
Performance however, doesn’t mean anything without control. Fortunately, the Mercedes-Benz GT S has a driver centric cockpit that provides composure, whether you are handle g forces or are on a date headed to your favorite destination. From the dashboard to the B-pillar, the interior is finished in leather, carbon fiber, and metal, giving the model a bespoke quality that is sure to charm you and your passengers.
Renting the AMG GT S is the ideal way to make a statement whether you are in San Francisco for your next investor meeting or in Los Angeles for a night out in the town.
